This book consists of 7 parts and 1, 260 articles, each part in turn being the General Provisions, Real Rights, Contracts, Personal and Personality Rights, Marriage and Family, Succession, Tort Liability, and the By-laws, which came into force on January 1, 2021. The codification of the Civil Code is a comprehensive and systematic compilation and revision of the existing civil legal norms of China, which were formulated in different periods of time. The Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China is recognized as a declaration and guarantee of civil rights in China. This book is characterized by the addition of article-by-article purpose on the basis of legal articles, systematically indicating the main content of each article, so that readers can easily and clearly understand the content of the articles.

Sobre el autor
Meng Wan, Professor and Founding Dean, School of Law, Beijing Foreign Studies University. He obtained his Master’s of Law and Ph.D in Law from Wuhan University, followed by post-doctoral research with Centre of Commercial Law Studies(CCLS) in London. He spent 15 years on the bench, serving as judge and head judge of the Economic and Commercial Division of the High Court of Hubei, and later as the chief judge and president of Wuhan Maritime Court, China. In 2002 he left the judiciary and joined Beijing Foreign Studies University to found a law school featuring common law teaching and research.
On top of the 15 years in the judiciary, Prof. Wan has been serving as Arbitrator with China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC), Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC), Asian International Arbitration Centre(AIAC), South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and as Recommended International Arbitrator with Pacific International Arbitration Centre (PIAC, Viet Nam).
Prof. Wan has lectured with William Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii in US, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece, Jagiellonian University and University of Silesia in Poland.
He is currently the deputy president of Beijing International Law Society, Beijing Civil Law Society and Beijing Banking Law Society.
His publications include Comparative Study of American and English Securities Laws; Chinese-English Glossary of Core Courses of Law; Compendium of Customs and Practices regarding International Trade and Business; Financial Regulation in the Greater China Area: Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong SAR; Financial Risks and Financial Regulation; and Convergences and Divergences in the China-EU and the China-US BIT Negotiations.
He is the Chief Editor for China Going Global Observer Series, China-African Law Review Series and Legal Guide to Investment in Poland.
He translated into Chinese Pan-Africanism and International Law, a masterpiece by Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, President of the International Court of Justice.
