A trip to the South of France when she was very young gave Jennifer the travel bug and she threw in my job on Woman’s Own and turned freelance. Over the next few years she explored Europe and fell in love with Italy. She juggled writing features and short stories with lengthy stays in the land of dolce vita. She became very successful, contributing to national newspapers such as the Telegraph and Times and magazines ranging from Woman’s Journal to tabloids. During that time her bestselling self-help title Feasting and Fasting was published by HarperCollins followed by The Caring Trap. She lived in Taormina, Sicily for three years. This gave her great material for writing and she learned to speak fluent Italian.About 12 years ago, she completed a postgraduate course in dramatic writing at Sussex University when she wrote the television play Meat. This was followed by two years on the Writers Register at Southampton University when she completed her novel Afterwards. Since then she has written and produced several plays including End of Story based on the wife of Harold Shipman which won the Joyce Goun award and had a professional reading at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne. Another play, Homecoming won the Clemence Dane Award. She has also won several awards and competitions for short stories. Her favourite school of painting is the Impressionists and in writing Monet’s Angels she immersed herself in the life and times of the great Claude Monet, his work and his fabulous garden. Her latest book The Great Sicilian Cat Rescue is a memoir/travelogue based on her experiences in Sicily, its culture and landscape, and tells of her one-woman mission to save the island’s cats.
