Dominik Ohrem studierte Geschichte, Anglistik und Germanistik an der Universität zu Köln. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Geschichte und Philosophie der Mensch-Tier-Beziehungen (speziell im nordamerikanischen kulturellen und historischen Kontext), feministische Theorie und Geschlechterforschung. Er arbeitet derzeit an seiner Dissertation, einer philosophischen Geschichte von Animalitätskonzepten und Mensch-Tier-Beziehungen in der Ära US-amerikanischer Westexpansion sowie an verschiedenen anderen Buchprojekten. Zu letzteren gehören Beyond the Human-Animal Divide: Creaturely Lives in Literature, Culture and History (zus. mit Roman Bartosch) und Encountering Animal Bodies (zus. mit Matthew Calarco), beide unter Vertrag bei Palgrave Macmillan.
