Denis Thériault wurde 1959 in Sept-Îles an der Nordküste des St.-Lawrence-Golfes geboren. Er studierte Psychologie in Ottawa und arbeitete als Schauspieler, Conférencier und Regisseur am Theater, bevor er erfolgreich als Drehbuchautor tätig wurde und Romane zu schreiben begann. Für seine Romane wurde er mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Denis Thériault lebt in Montreal.
