Bob Welch won 211 games in the major leagues from 1978 through 1994. In 1990, Welch earned the Cy Young Award as the best pitcher in his league. He died suddenly in 2014 at the age of 57. George Vecsey was a sports columnist for the New York Times from 1982 to 2011. He has written over a dozen books, including assisting on bestselling autobiographies of Loretta Lynn and Martina Navratilova.
