István Lénárt is a lecturer at Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of NaturalSciences and Faculty of Primary and Preschool Education, Budapest, Hungary. His main research areas in mathematics are axiomatic systems ingeometry and the factorial series in number theory. In education, he is theinventor of the Lénárt Sphere Set, a teaching aid in geometry and geography. He designed the Comparative Geometry Project for primary and secondaryschool. Patrick Barmby is a senior lecturer in mathematics education at theUniversity of the Witwatersrand. He worked for 13 years at DurhamUniversity in the UK before moving to Johannesburg in September 2014. Karin Brodie is a professor in the Wits School of Education andis currently the Head of School. Her fundamental research interest is in howlearners can be supported to develop deep mathematical knowledge as wellas strong, positive mathematical identities in resource-constrained contexts. Mellony Graven is a professor and holds the South African Chair ofNumeracy Education at Rhodes University in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Fritz Hahne was a professor of theoretical physics and the dean of science atStellenbosch University. He was also responsible for the University”smathematics and science outreach programmes to schools. After hisretirement, he and Neil Turok created and developed the African Institute ofMathematical Sciences (AIMS), of which he was founding director. AIMS, which now has branches in several African countries, prepares graduatestudents from all over Africa for successful entry into the international worldof science and mathematics. After retiring a second time, Fritz was appointedby the Council of the Academy of Sciences of South Africa (ASSAf) to chairthe STEM Education Standing Committee. His responsibilities include leading a team ofresearchers in the education and skills development area, including projectsin mathematics and science education. Werner Olivier is a professor and Head of the Govan Mbeki MathematicsDevelopment Unit at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. He has abackground as a research mathematician but also actively practises thescholarship of engagement with a view to improving the quality of teachingand learning of mathematics at secondary school level. Nicky Roberts is the director of Kelello, a research agency that works inpartnership with the University of Johannesburg”s Centre for EducationPractice Research. While most of her work has been done in SouthernAfrican Development Community countries, she has also worked in otherlow-resource country contexts. Her academic focus is on integratedapproaches to learning during childhood with a particular focus on anarrative approach to mathematics. Anna Rybak is senior lecturer in the Faculty of Mathematics and Informaticsin the Rector”s Plenipotentiary for E-learning at the University of Bialystok, Poland. She is a specialist in ICT in education, e-learning, and intelligenttutoring systems. She also has experience in teaching at school level(mathematics and computer science).
