Henry David Thoreau (1817–62) was a renaissance man of the 19th century—a naturalist, philosopher, environmentalist, poet, essayist, and abolitionist from Concord, Massachusetts. Walden is his most famous work, followed by his essay “Civil Disobedience.”
Laura Ross has been a publishing professional for 30 years and has a MFA in criticism from the Yale School of Drama.
