“The faith is Europe and Europe is the faith;” Hilaire Belloc wrote from an outspoken Catholic viewpoint. In this 1920 work, he asserts that the Church is the basis of European civilization, calling on Europe to turn its back on Protestantism and return to its Catholic roots, or face dire consequences.
