The object of this volume is to preserve, in book form, the leading incidents connected with the distinguished services rendered to our country by the 115th Regiment, and to show to its friends and the world at large, what a variety of peculiar sacrifices and sufferings it endured. The author aims to give plain facts and accu rate statements, yet it would not be strange if there were errors, considering the multitude of dates and names, and the rough way in which it is sometimes necessary to keep a journal in the field.
