I was born and raised in Waite Park, Minnesota near Saint Cloud. I joined the Navy at the age of seventeen. With promises of schools and travel to see the world, I went in with eyes wide open and did not regret it. I served for 26 years rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In 1968, I was sent to South Vietnam to serve aboard a 50-foot gunboat known as a Swift Boat. I returned in 1969 continuing my career by serving aboard numerous ships and shore commands, retiring in June 1985. I wrote and published with Book Art Press, a non-fiction book titled, “Swift Boat Down, the Real Story of the Sinking of PCF-19.
