Bipolar disorder is equally prevalent in men and women and is found across all cultures and ethnic groups. Not everyone’s symptoms are the same, and there is no simple physiological test to confirm the disorder. This new book presents topical research in the study of bipolar disorder, including its genetic basis, the clinical characteristics and neuropsychological performance of its different subtypes, social cognition dimensions, and assessment instruments and rehabilitation strategies in bipolar disorder. Cognitive impairment in bipolar disorders, as well as comorbid autism spectrum disorders and bipolar disorder in adolescence are also discussed.
