Of the five chapters in this study, Chapter I introduces the problems of describing and analyzing the coaching philosophies of football coaches in Oregon. Chapter II reviews seven personal interviews taken from Oregon coaches. Chapter III analyzes what the seven coaches had in common. Chapter IV analyzes what the seven coaches did differently in their programs. Chapter V presents a summary, the conclusion and the recommendations. The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the coaching philosophies of football coaches in Oregon. After thoroughly understanding each of the philosophies, the investigator prepared a comparison and summation of what these philosophies had in common.

Larry Geigle is a retired health and physical education teacher, athletic director, assistant principal, and football/baseball coach. He is also a grandfather, father, husband, and Vietnam veteran who lives in Lincoln City, Oregon, with his wife.
Larry attended Linfield College, where he earned a bachelor of science in health and physical education. He also has a master’s degree in education from Linfield College. Larry also received his administrative license from Portland State University. His book covers coaching philosophies from over forty years of coaching football.
