From Riddle of Sphinx to the Sphinx’s riddle, from Greek mythology to the curse of the Swan Princess, 31 well-known works relate 31 stories and tales. The thesis of this book is myths and legends. The sculpture Clash of the Gods on the Altar of Zeus, Titian’s Bacchus and Ariadne, Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velazquez’s The Fable of Arachne, the ancient Greek bottle painting Achilles Kills Pentesilia, and other famous works in western art history are included in the first half of the book. These works intuitively introduce the origin of the origin of gods, the theft of kindling by Prometheus, Perseus and Medusa, Jason and the Golden Fleece, and Trojan Horse. In the second part of the book, the author chooses pieces of art that are based on Russian folktales, European folktales, long poems by Tennyson, plays by Shakespeare, and other topics. The author then relates the tales of Swan Lake, King Arthur, and Hamlet in evocative and lovely language.
