To study the Bible as history and literature does not belittle faith, asserts the author of this 1901 work. In fact, he says, a fresh look brings new appreciation and relevance of the Old Testament to modern life. Includes chapters on prehistoric traditions, Hebrew stories retold, canon law, lyrics, and redemption.
