Ihr erster Roman »So lebe ich jetzt« verkaufte sich über eine Million Mal in sechsunddreißig Ländern und wurde erfolgreich verfilmt. Sie hat sieben weitere Romane geschrieben, die mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet wurden oder dafür nominiert waren. 2016 gewann Meg Rosoff den Astrid Lindgren Gedrächtnispreis – die weltweit höchste Auszeichnung für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur.
