Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is conceptualized as a neurobehavioral condition that is characterized by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity and motor overactivity. It is estimated to be present in 3-7% of school-aged populations and can result in significant impairment in academic, social and family functioning.
