Omar Robert Hamilton ist Sohn einer ägyptisch-palästinensischen Mutter und eines britischen Vaters, beide ebenfalls Autoren. Er arbeitet als Filmemacher und Essayist. Außerdem ist er Mitbegründer eines Aktivisten- und Medienkollektivs in Kairo und des Palestine Festival of Literature. Sein Debütroman erscheint gleichzeitig in mehreren Sprachen.
