David Cox’s important new book examines priestly identity as it has evolved within Anglicanism over the last 150 years. Central to this evolution, is the manner in which – and the extent to which – the once nearly synonymous terms ‘English’ and ‘Anglican’ have diverged over the years. In the process, he delineates an intellectual and social history of modern Anglicanism.
