The first edition of Raghbendra Jha’s public economics textbook was the first on the market to properly take into account issues of global concern, and hence became popular in a wide range of countries. Its examination of issues in a cross-border context such as fiscal federalism and the comparison of the public sector across countries was a unique hallmark. This new edition of the text builds on the strength of the previous edition by increasing the international coverage, introducing a new chapter on global public goods, and highlighting the highly important issue that is environmental taxation.
