Timothy Fitzgerald es profesor en la School of Languages, Cultures and Religions de la Universidad de Stirling (Escocia, Reino Unido). En el año 2001 se incorporó al Departamento de Estudios Religiosos después de haber estado trabajando varios años en Japón. Es doctor en Teología filosófica, pero su trabajo se desarrolla en el ámbito de la Antropología social, donde se ocupa del análisis e interpretación de ideas en contextos sociales, especialmente los de Japón e India.
