About the author


Arthur Frederick Basil Williams (1867–1950) was an English historian. Educated at Oxford, Williams became a clerk in the House of Commons, where he came to know Cecil Rhodes. Williams served in the Second Boer War and World War I. He is the author of several history books and biographies.
