Charles Francis Adams (1835-1915) fought at Antietam and Gettysburg, became president of the Union Pacific Railroad after reforming that industry, and spearheaded reforms of the Massachusetts public school system. He was the great-grandson of President John Adams and the grandson of John Quincy Adams.
