About the author
Charles K. Wolfe (1943–2006), was a professor of English and folklore at Middle Tennessee State University. He is the author of numerous books on country and traditional American music, including his award-winning A Good Natured Riot: The Birth of the Grand Ole Opry. The University of Tennessee Press’s Charles K. Wolfe Music Series continues Wolfe’s publishing tradition in his honor.
