Trends, Impacts and Policies

Support

This book presents important research in the field of monetary growth and how changes in monetary growth relate to changes in real output growth, nominal output growth and inflation. A brief summary of monetary and fiscal policies in the European Monetary Union and empirical evidence of the interactions between monetary and fiscal policies is presented. There is also an analysis of monetary and education policies in the Uzawa-Lucas model. A study done in Korea is presented using a state-place model where expectations about the money growth rate depend on macroeconomic variables and their distributions. Although technical analysis is used by practitioners as method of risk reduction, a theoretical and empirical discussion shows that this is not always right. Other topics in this book include the effects of inflation variability and the inflation level on the default risk of the private sector, a discussion about inflationary monetary policy as a successful tool for eliminating cumulative depressions and the possible ways monetary policy could effect economic growth process.
