This book was created to help young children understand Alzheimer’s disease and how to recognize how it may affect someone they know and love. It describes how the forgetfulness can progress until the adult affected becomes totally dependent on others for their care. This is a true story of one family in which this happened over many years, but it is also a love story of devotion and caring.
About the author
Christine assumed the role of caregiver for her beloved mother and later, her aunt for many years. She cherished these precious women who nurtured and loved her for her entire life and considered it a privileged to care for them as they aged and could no longer care for themselves. It was a chance to give back with love to these two special people who had given so much of themselves, to their family, and made decades of happy memories for everyone.
The author is retired social worker from Suffolk County, New York. The illustrator for this children’s book is an art teacher at a long island school district. We are donating a portion of royalty proceeds to Alzheimer’s research.
