Bastian is a recently retired Professor from the School of Library and Information Science, Simmons University, Boston, Massachusetts where she directed their Archives Management program. A former Territorial Librarian of the United States Virgin Islands, she holds an MPhil from the University of the West Indies and a Ph D from the University of Pittsburgh.
