Gary F. Simons is SIL’s  Chief Research Officer. He is also Director of the Pike Center for Integrative Scholarship and the Executive Editor of Ethnologue. He holds a Ph D in Linguistics from Cornell University and has done fieldwork in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. He has also done significant work in linguistic computing and is a co-founder of OLAC, the Open Language Archives Community.
