Jens Andermann es catedrático de español y portugués en la Universidad de Nueva York y dirige el Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies. Ha sido profesor en Londres, Berlín y Zúrich, y profesor visitante en las universidades de Buenos Aires, Río de Janeiro, Duke, Princeton y Columbia. Autor de New Argentine Cinema (I. B. Tauris 2011, Paidós 2015), The Optic of the State: Visuality and Power in Argentina and Brazil (University of Pittsburgh Press 2007, Ed UERJ 2014) y Mapas de poder: una arqueología literaria del espacio argentino (Beatriz Viterbo 2000). Organizó compilaciones como Natura: Environmental Aesthetics After Landscape (Diaphanes 2018), La escena y la pantalla: cine contemporáneo y el retorno de lo real (Colihue 2013), New Argentine and Brazilian Cinema: Reality Effects (Palgrave 2013), Galerías de progreso: exposiciones, museos y cultura visual en América Latina (Beatriz Viterbo 2006), entre otras, al igual que números de revistas sobre memoria postdictatorial y contra-monumentalidad en el Cono Sur y Brasil.
