This series of three books covers over 50 word families and 450 words. The word families in this series are connected by their spelling and their pronunciation, such as the group of words ending in ‚ay‘ or the group ending in ‚ast‘. These books provide two ‚hooks‘ to help fix the words in the learner’s memory. One is the fact that the words form a rhyming family. The second is the way the material is presented. There are pictures to provide visual interest and there is also the narrative interest of the little story that each set of pictures illustrates. These books are intended to be fun in addition to being instructive – a sly try, you might say, to avoid being dry.
