Leroy, Lydia’s self centered domineering husband is found dead across the room from the unconscious Lydia. Quiet, soft speaking, mild mannered Lydia is later charged with his murder. She was raised by a great aunt in the small town of Windfield. She and her aunt were charitable people and were loved by the community. She had degrees in mechanical engineering and interior design and loved to design window displays for the town merchants. However, she found it more and more difficult to continue her career after marring Leroy, a farmer.
About the author
Doris Holland is a self-made woman, mother of four and retired educator. She is the seventh child of eleven. She grew up on tenant farms where she worked in the cotton fields and tended to the farm animals. Because of this she has a strong work ethic and loves to play to make up for the fun she missed as a child.
She married at the age of eighteen. When her children were growing the family camped out a lot going to all states in the United States except Hawaii.
At the age of twenty six, after her first three children had started school she entered college. When she earned her BA she began teaching at the elementary level. Her education did not end there she continued to earn a Masters + 30. She taught many subjects in the middle school grades and retired after thirty years.
She learned to read her siblings’ books before she started to school. Growing up she learned a lot about life from the many books she read and is still an avid reader. Even thought she is retired she is a versatile person and stays busy with many activities which includes travel.
