Delve into the mind and life of the prolific Welsh poet Dylan Thomas in this roguish collection of short autobiographical stories.

Ten vivid memoirs are collated in this eminent volume, following Thomas’ wild and romping childhood in Swansea up until his exuberant days working as a journalist. As Thomas reminisces on his youth, these rose-tinted tales hold an air of fictionality and offer a rare glimpse into the mysterious private life of the poet. First published in 1940, this collection of short stories explores themes of adolescence, religion, love, and death.

Ragged Hand proudly introduces this new edition of Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog, featuring Thomas’ introductory essay, ‘How to be a Poet’.
