David Steindl-Rast (1926) studiert Kunst und Anthropologie und promovierte in Psychologie. 1953 trat er einem kontemplativen Zweig des Benediktinerordens in den USA bei. Ihm ist es unter anderem durch seine Erfahrung mit Zen-Buddhismus gelungen, Brücken zwischen christlicher Spiritualität und östlicher Weisheit zu schlagen; durch sein interdisziplinäres, soziales Engagement trägt er zu Verständnis und Frieden auf der Welt bei. Buchveröffentlichungen in deutscher Sprache u.a. »Fülle und Nichts: Die Wiedergeburt christlicher Mystik«, »Die Achtsamkeit des Herzens« und (gemeinsam mit Fritjof Capra) »Wendezeit im Christentum«.
