Portada de Alan Loynd: All at Sea (PDF)

Covers fifty years of Hong Kong’s maritime history, revealing much about shipping and salvage. Alan Loynd, well-known Marine Consultant and shipping columnist, Fellow of the Nautical Institute and the International Tugmasters Association, Freeman of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, describes a career in a changing world. Serving first with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary on replenishment vessels, tankers and ammunition ships supporting the Royal Navy, then with the Swire Group, sailing on general cargo ships trading mainly from Hong Kong to the Pacific islands, he witnessed the revolution in shipping caused by the arrival of containerisation. Transferring to Hongkong Salvage & Towage, he directed numerous salvage operations, one widely reported at the time, the recovery of a Boeing 747 from Hong Kong harbour in 1993. During a brief interval on land, he escorted Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth on her visit to Tuvalu Maritime School when Captain Superintendent there.
