As an outline of the tactical maneuver that will be tested in the wargame – simulated battle – of chapter 3, we present the English chess Opening as a model, where we will consider a hypothesis (compared to chess) in which a combination of the Cuneus battle orders would be employed, that is a staggered attack on the center or Convex but with flanks on discontinuous lines, taking care to simulate more decisive flank actions. The maneuvers will be complementary (geographically), with the Portuguese army trying to lure the opponent into its concave device in a kill zone ; and with the Castilian army trying to exploit the numerical weight of its convex device to penetrate, overflow and destroy the Portuguese blockade.
