The present study on the Book of Isaiah faces one of the most challenging traditions of literary representation of YHWH in the Old Testament: divine violence. These troubling portrayals of God are examined in regard of their function within their literary context. Furthermore, the study focusses on continuity as well as discontinuity regarding the literary representation of YHWH as violent God throughout the Book of Isaiah.
