David M. Bates is Professor of Botany, L. H. Bailey Hortorium at Cornell University. Richard W. Robinson is Professor of Horticultural Sciences, New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, Geneva, a division of Cornell University. Charles Jeffrey is Principal Scientific Officer at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
