Dieter E. Zimmer, geb. 1934, war freier Autor und Übersetzer. Von 1959–1999 war er Redakteur bei DIE ZEIT, davon 1973–1977 Leiter des Feuilletons, danach als Wissenschaftsjournalist mit den Schwerpunkten Psychologie, Biologie, Medizin und Linguistik. Neben zahlreichen weiteren Auszeichnungen erhielt er den Preis für Wissenschaftspublizistik der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Psychologie. Bei Rowohlt war er u. a. als Herausgeber und Übersetzer für die Nabokov-Gesamtausgabe verantwortlich. Dieter E. Zimmer starb 2020 in Berlin.
