Watermill, Pilski and the Shloss, are replicas of real places in Poland, during the occupation of Nazi Germany from 1939 on. All the history is true, the characters are combinations of heroines, heroes, villains whose story must be told before the witness/survivors all disappear The history, mystery and intrigue of the Shloss, based on a report by my father, who as a child, participated in the Lag B’Omer ritual of the opening story . My parents came to America pre-WWI. The World War II massacre of my grandfather and family, attested to by survivors of the Holocaust tragedy. This trilogy is the Slomovitch’s story.
