‘Men were indeed more foolish and more cruel than the beasts of the jungle! ‘
Tarzan of the Apes is a novel by American author Edgar Rice Burroughs in 1912, the first in a series of 24 books about Tarzan as the title character.
The story follows the journeys of Tarzan, from being raised by apes in the jungle from his infancy to his eventual contacts with other people and Western culture. So famous was the character that with two dozen sequels, Burroughs continued the series into the 1940s.
