Felix Salten (1869–1945) was an Austro-Hungarian writer born in Pest, Austria-Hungary. He wrote many plays, short stories, books and essays, but is best-known for the classic novel, Bambi, 1923. The beloved book was intended as a parable for the persecution of Jews in Europe. Bambi was extremely successful and, in 1942, it formed the basis of Disney’s feature-length film of the same name.
