Andrea Macchia is a conservation scientist with a PhD in Applied Science for the Protection of Environment and Cultural Heritage. He is the author of over 40 papers in national and international journals, conference proceedings and edited books. His research activities are focused on the application of chemistry to the conservation of cultural heritage, and on new nano systems for cultural heritage conservation. He is currently developing a research project aimed at studying new consolidants and nano-antifouling products for underwater stone structures.Fernanda Prestileo is a conservator with a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Tuscia University, Italy. She deals with research, study and teaching on issues relating to indoor deterioration processes of artworks, especially stone and paintings, and their constituent materials. Her research activity mainly aims at investigating methodologies and techniques for diagnostics and microclimatic monitoring of cultural heritage. Since 2012, she has worked at CNR in Rome, and has previously worked at institutions including the ICCROM in Rome, the CRPR in Palermo, and the University of Bologna. She has participated as speaker in over 60 national and international conferences on cultural heritage. She is the author of over 90 publications in books, national and international journals, and proceedings, and has edited a number of books.Simone Cagno works as a scientific collaborator at the Belgian Nuclear Research Center (SCK-CEN), following his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Antwerp. In the heritage field, he is a specialist in non-destructive and micro-destructive analysis and in the study of the composition, alteration and conservation of ancient glass. Simone has been an invited lecturer at several meetings and training courses and has published over 40 papers and book chapters, the majority of which are in international journals.Fariz Khalilli is a historian and archaeologist with a PhD in History. He is the chairman of MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage and has published 100 scientific articles in several languages. He participated closely in preparing scientific exhibitions at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan from 2004–2008 and published a dual-language catalogue for Shamakhi History and Local Lore Museum in two languages in 2009. He is currently co-authoring a three-volume book on archaeological explorations at the medieval town of Agsu.
