Dopo aver avuto l’imprimatur dal teologo domenicano Niccolò Riccardi, il libro fu stampato nel maggio del 1623 a Roma.
Il trattato nacque da una disputa tra Galileo e Orazio Grassi sull’origine delle comete.
Galileo Galilei (Pisa, 15 febbraio 1564 – Arcetri, 8 gennaio 1642) è stato un fisico, astronomo, filosofo e matematico italiano, considerato il padre della scienza moderna.
