Ben and Buffy Byrd are a retired senior couple (snowbirds) living in the sunny South and enjoying every moment that life in the Golden Years has to offer. With a snappy sense of humor, the Byrds touch upon subjects like senior activities, family relations, friends, beautiful weather and, of course, the pleasure of simply growing older together.
The weekly feature was created by cartoonist, Gus St. Anthony, in 2001 and is regionally syndicated in community magazines, and weekly newspapers in the United States and Europe.

Gus St. Anthony has been a commercial cartoonist for more than fifty years. He has been writing and drawing the weekly cartoon feature, ‘The Byrds’ since 2001. The Byrds has been published in many weekly newspapers in the United States over the years and in Toons Magazine which is published in Norway and distributed all over Europe as well as a digital weekly product available on a subscription basis to fans globally. The feature, always written in rhyme, focuses on the humorous antics and observations of Ben and Buffy Byrd, a senior couple living in the sunny South. Written and drawn by a senior for seniors, The Byrds covers topics like cost of living, health, retirement, family, politics, jokes, word puns, marriage, dieting, recreation and enjoying life in the golden years while growing older together.
