The Little Match Girl is a famous fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, a famous Danish fairy tale writer. Published in 1846, it is about the tragic fate of a little girl who sold matches on the night before New Year’s Eve. She did not sell a single match and did not eat anything for a day. She was cold and hungry and polished the first match and saw the fragrant roast goose. She polished the second match and saw the beautiful Christmas tree. She polished the third match and saw her long-lost grandmother. She wanted her grandmother to take her away and polished a whole handful of matches. However, when the matches went out, all of this was gone, and the little girl died tragically on New Year’s Eve. No one knew the beautiful scene she saw in her last moments of life.
