Joel Kuortti is Adjunct Professor and lecturer at the University of Jyväskylä as well as a researcher at the University of Joensuu. His current research is on post-colonial theory, post-colonial translation, hybridity, and the diasporic writings of Indian women writing in English. His publications include The Salman Rushdie Bibliography (Lang, 1997), Place of the Sacred (Lang, 1997), Fictions to Live In (Lang, 1998), Indian Women»s Writing in English: A Bibliography (Rawat, 2002) and Tense Past, Tense Present (Stree, 2003). His most recent books are the co-edited anthologies Reconstructing Hybridity: Post-colonial Studies in Transition (co-edited with Jopi Nyman) (Rodopi, 2007) and Indian Women»s Short Fiction (co-edited with Rajeshwar Mittapalli) (Atlantic, 2007).
