Laura Di Angelo is a successful concert pianist living a perfectly happy and peaceful life until her husband goes missing on a business trip to Mexico. She and her three children fall victim to Marty Longston, her husband’s corrupt business partner. Trusting Marty to notify the police of Anthony’s disappearance, Laura is stunned to find out the police have never been notified and that Marty instead is blaming Anthony for his his own fraudulent insurance practices. He has been in love with Laura since he and Anthony were college buddies and is bent on claiming Laura for himself. When he fails to convince Laura that Anthony has left his family on purpose, he freezes any income to Laura from the business and sends the family into financial distress.
