Anne of Green Gables chronicles the antics and adventures of Anne Shirley, an eleven-year-old orphan who is mistakenly sent to live with Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, two middle-aged siblings who intended to adopt a boy to help around their farm in Avonlea in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Precocious, ginger-haired, freckled-faced Anne has a quirky imagination and knack for causing mishaps that conspire to constantly find her in heaps of trouble. Nevertheless, Anne’s independent spirit and endearing efforts to be loved earn her many friends. This handsome, lovingly produced edition honors the feisty, irrepressible, and dauntless Anne Shirley, who has charmed and beguiled countless readers the world over for more than a hundred years. Includes a detailed biographical timeline.
