I hope this book can help students break down the intimidation they may feel when beginning to draw. Once you put pencil to paper, keep going! If you draw a picture of a horse and someone says “that’s not a horse!” Don’t listen to them! You draw what you see. Lines don’t have to be straight, circles don’t have to be perfectly round. Draw how and what makes you happy.

I was born in Indiana, but grew up mostly in Iowa. I have raised my family with my husband in Iowa
City. I started an art studio in Iowa City almost 18 years ago now and am currently running it. I have met so many interesting and wonderful people along the way. Combined I have taught over 4500 classes, involving everything from drawing, painting, sculpting, pottery wheel throwing and more. Art has always been a big part of my life.
