Rob Deering is a writer, comedian, broadcaster, musician and theatre director.
He spent the 1990s writing music and directing plays, before becoming a stand-up comedian at the turn of the century. Since then he has become one of the UK’s most in-demand comedy headliners, toured the world, and taken nine solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Over time Rob brought music back into his comedy, adding guitars, pedals and vocals to his stand-up act and becoming a 21st Century one-man band. In recent years he has also returned to directing – comedians this time. He’s a regular on BBC 6 Music and one of the hosts of the Comedy Club on BBC Radio 4 Extra.
Once cartoonishly rotund, he’s now a keen runner with fourteen marathons under his belt. He’s made £100k for the charity Parkinson’s UK, and he created their successful Shake With Laughter comedy nights. He co-hosts the popular Running Commentary podcast – recorded whilst running with fellow comedian Paul Tonkinson.
He lives with his wife and children in North London.
