The monk enters these deserts voluntarily, whereas now the world is peopled by reluctant monks who have not chosen to be alone. Their loneliness could become communion. The key, of course, is to choose the desert.
This book is an attempt to share with all desert dwellers everywhere, the committed and the reluctant, the fruits of what God has taught.

Robert Wild is a Catholic priest and a member of the Madonna House community in Combermere, Ontario. He has published books and articles extensively in the areas of theology, spirituality, and in the life and teachings of their founder, Catherine de Hueck Doherty. He is the author of Who I Will Be: Is There Joy and Suffering in God?
